Why home care
Home care that fits your child’s medical needs, not a hospital schedule
When a child relies on a trach, a feeding tube, seizure medication, or round-the-clock monitoring, home stops being simple. Many Georgia parents become full-time nurses overnight, often while working, raising siblings and managing a dozen appointments.
Pediatric home care puts a trained nurse or caregiver in your home to share that load. Your child gets skilled care in the place they recover best. You get to sleep, work and simply be a parent again.
SLB In-Home Care is a Georgia pediatric home care agency based in College Park. We focus on one thing: in-home care for children from birth to 21 with complex medical needs, delivered through the Georgia Pediatric Program (GAPP).
What we do
Our pediatric home care services in Georgia
Pediatric skilled nursing (RN and LPN)
Licensed nurses provide hands-on medical care at home: medication administration, trach and ventilator care, G-tube feedings, seizure monitoring, vital signs, and assessments. Shifts can be daytime, evening or overnight.
Personal care support
Trained caregivers help with the daily tasks your child cannot do alone: bathing, dressing, toileting, positioning, mobility and feeding support. This is the “unskilled” side of GAPP, and it often keeps a family running.
Care for complex conditions
Our nurses support children with cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, seizure disorders, chronic lung disease, genetic disorders, traumatic brain injury and technology dependence.
Family training and care coordination
We teach parents and caregivers the skills they need between shifts, and we coordinate with your child’s pediatrician, specialists, therapists and equipment company so nothing falls through the cracks.

Who pediatric home care is for
Your child may be a fit for in-home pediatric nursing if they:
Age and residence
Are under 21 and live in Georgia

Medical need
Are medically fragile, usually with more than one body system affected
Physician orders
Need physician-ordered skilled nursing or personal care to live safely at home
Recent discharge
Have recently come home from the NICU, PICU or a long hospital stay
Don’t have Medicaid yet? Many families qualify through Katie Beckett, which looks at the child’s needs rather than parents’ income. We can point you in the right direction.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is pediatric home care?
Pediatric home care is medical and personal care given to a child in their home by nurses or trained caregivers. It is ordered by a physician and is designed for children whose medical needs would otherwise keep them in a hospital or facility.
Does Georgia Medicaid cover pediatric home care?
Yes. Through the Georgia Pediatric Program (GAPP), Georgia Medicaid covers medically necessary in-home skilled nursing and personal care support for medically fragile children under 21, when approved.
How much does pediatric home care cost in Georgia?
Private-pay pediatric nursing can cost thousands of dollars a week. For GAPP-approved children, the approved hours are covered by Medicaid with no out-of-pocket cost to the family.
What’s the difference between pediatric home health and private duty nursing?
Home health usually means short intermittent visits after a hospital stay. Private duty nursing, which is what GAPP provides, means a nurse stays with your child for a scheduled shift of several hours.
How long does GAPP approval take?
The state’s medical review can take up to 30 days after a complete packet is submitted. Having your physician’s paperwork ready speeds things up, and we help gather it.
Can I switch to SLB if I already have GAPP with another agency?
Yes. Georgia lets families change GAPP agencies without penalty. How to switch your GAPP provider →
